Engagement - Jason Fellows -Tori Godfrey
So Tori and I had been dating a few months and were at a Braves game when she told me a crazy dream she had when she was younger about getting proposed to at the Braves game. She told me everyone had yellow roses (her favorite flower) and she was surprised by her soon to be fiance on the pitchers mound during the seventh inning stretch when he popped the question. Since we had only been dating a short time of course it was a little early for me to pop the question but I made a note in my phone as a reminder to somehow incorporate all this "if" I were to pop the question in the future.
So a little over a year went by and I had been praying to God to let me know when the time would be right to propose and I got my answer shortly after. So now it was time to plan the big proposal.
I had a friend who worked for the Atlanta Braves and we were trying to find the best way for me to do it. I knew I wanted to do it at the Braves game since that's where her dream was so I had to find a way to make it work. So we ended up getting tickets for the game and I rented a room out so that I could propose in there and make it an intimate moment between the two of us. I also thought it would be really cool if I had both Tori and my immediate family there to surprise her so I got them tickets as well. It took several months to plan everything and the day was finally here.
The day of the game Tori and I went early to cookout while our families were already in the game setting up the room with pictures and roses, she had no idea. I also had purchased 7 dozen yellow roses for them to pass out to the fans so Tori would see them as we walked in. So when the time came for us to walk into the stadium we went through the ticket gate our families told me to walk through and the usher was waiting there with 6 yellow roses for Tori with a note that I had printed that read, "dreams do come true". We turned to the right to go to the room where everything was setup and there was tons of people holding the yellow roses in the air! It worked out perfect! One by one the fans came up to her and gave her their yellow rose and said congratulations. So we kept walking and she still had no idea what was going on. Then we got to the room where her Mom and Dad were waiting outside to give their blessings. Her Mom had the final yellow rose to give her and gave her a big hug and her Dad had the ring in his pocket and some nice words for both of us as we walked in the room. The room was decorated so nice! They had a path of yellow rose petals on the floor and pictures of both of us hanging on the wall. There I read a note I had written Tori and got down on one to propose. After she said yes, we went outside because I told her we need to tell her parents she said yes and to her surprise both of our families were there waiting. It was amazing!! My friend also had the Braves put a message for us on the scoreboard during the game. To cap off the night the Braves hit back to back home runs to win the game in the bottom of the 9th. What a day it was, a day we will never forget!!!
